Grocery price alerts Australia: favourites, Free limits and Today's deals

Grocery price alerts in Australia only help if you pick the right lines. On Discount Trolley Free you get Today's deals, one shopping list, up to 50 favourites and 3 price alerts. Premium removes the favourite and alert limits. Save the staples you repurchase, keep alerts for the lines that move, and check Today's deals before you leave home. Price alerts is the feature name. This guide does not claim a push or a phone ping.

Grocery price alerts Australia: pick the lines that matter

The quick answer: put your staples in favourites, keep price alerts for the lines that actually move, and open Today's deals before you leave home. On Discount Trolley Free that means up to 50 favourites and 3 price alerts, plus Today's deals and one shopping list. Premium removes the favourite and alert limits.

We make Discount Trolley, so the bias is obvious. Free covers current prices, search, product pages, ordinary per-product unit prices, Today's deals, community browsing and one shopping list. Free limits include 50 favourites and 3 price alerts. Premium removes those favourite and alert limits, and adds live cross-store comparison, barcode and QR scanning, price history, comparative unit-price insight, Smart Swap, spending insights, seasonal context, dark theme and online-shopping links. Coverage is Woolworths, Coles, ALDI and Priceline where data is available. We are not affiliated with those retailers, and the shelf can differ from the screen.

This is not the weekly tracking guide. That one already lives at track grocery prices with a watchlist. This post is about the three Free tools that work together every shop: favourites, price alerts and Today's deals.

Favourites hold the staples. Alerts watch the movers.
  • Free: Today's deals, one list, 50 favourites, 3 price alerts.
  • Premium removes the favourite and alert limits.
  • Price alerts is the feature name. This guide does not claim a push or a phone ping.

Favourites: the staples you buy again

Favourites are for the lines you repurchase without thinking. Milk, bread, coffee, the shampoo you already trust. On a product page in Discount Trolley you will see Favourite next to Add to list. Tap Favourite on the Pantene you actually buy, not on every shiny special.

Free caps favourites at 50. That is enough for a real household if you are honest about what you repurchase. Premium removes that cap when your staple set grows past it.

On the home screen, Favourites sits beside Deals, Stores and Recent. On My List, a Favourites tab sits next to Shopping Lists. Use that tab to reopen staples without rebuilding the basket from scratch.

A favourite is a repurchase, not a maybe.
  • Favourite the exact product you repurchase, not every special.
  • Free allows up to 50 favourites.
  • Premium removes the favourites limit.

Price alerts: three Free slots, use them hard

Price alerts are for the lines whose price moves enough that you care. Free gives you 3 price alerts. Premium removes that alert limit. Spend the Free slots on staples that swing, not on one-off treats.

Price alerts is the feature name in the product text. This guide does not claim the app sends a push, a phone notification or a ping when a favourite goes on sale. Open the app, check your alerts and Today's deals, then shop.

On My List the bell sits with the list tools. Pair it with Recently Viewed when you want to reopen a line you already checked before you spend a Free alert slot. Recently Viewed is not the same as Favourites. It is a short history of what you opened.

Three Free alerts. Make them earn the slot.
  • Free: 3 price alerts.
  • Premium removes the alert limit.
  • No claim here of a push, phone notification or ping.

Today's deals: check the claim before you leave

Today's deals is Free. Open it on the home screen under Today's Best Deals and read the was-price next to the sticker. In the scene-bank capture, Coles Beach Road Naturals shows $1 was $10, and Oral B Pro100 shows $8 was $56. Those are the numbers on the screen that day. They are not a promise for your suburb tomorrow.

Use Today's deals to decide what deserves a favourite or an alert. A loud badge on a product you never buy is noise. A real drop on a staple you already favourite is a reason to open the list.

Live prices need a connection. Check while you have signal, then take the list into the aisle. The shelf can differ from the screen, so re-check in store before you buy.

A deal is a claim. The was-price is the check.
  • Today's deals comes with Free.
  • Read the was-price, not only the badge.
  • Live prices need a connection.

One list: put the winners where you shop

Free includes one shopping list. Put the favourites you will buy this week on that list, then use store counts to see Woolworths, Coles and ALDI lines in one place. In the scene-bank list capture, My List shows Woolworths and Coles lines with totals and a Favourites tab at the top.

When you want the same product across chains, Premium live cross-store comparison is the tool. Free still lets you search current prices, read ordinary unit prices, browse Today's deals and keep one list. Premium also adds price history when a special needs a longer look.

For the weekly repurchase habit on a longer watchlist angle, read how to track grocery prices with a watchlist. For unit-price maths on pack sizes, read how to use unit prices to find the cheapest groceries.

The list is where the check becomes a shop.
  1. Free: one shopping list.
  2. Premium: live Compare Stores and price history when you need them.
  3. Favourites, alerts and Today's deals feed the same list.

What Discount Trolley does (and does not) claim

Discount Trolley helps you check available grocery price information for the lines you care about. It does not promise savings, crown a forever cheapest staple, or cover all products at all stores. Live prices need a connection. The shelf can differ from the screen.

We are not affiliated with Woolworths, Coles, ALDI or Priceline. Priceline prices are the catalogue prices Priceline publishes online, and franchise shelf prices can differ.

This post sticks to Discount Trolley features only. It does not change the App Store listing. It does not invent a push when a favourite moves. Price alerts means the in-app price alerts feature within the published Free or Premium limits.

  • No invented savings or rankings.
  • No push, phone notification or ping claim.
  • No affiliation with supermarket chains.
